✈️ A Greek Island Gem You’ve Never Heard Of 🏝️
Oh Greece, the dream of many and...I totaly get it! Pristine waters, awesome food, amazing culture and...the hospitality? It's like no other.

Did you know that Greece has 6,000 islands and islets scattered in the Greek Seas, of which only 227 islands are inhabited?
But people still go to the same islands and miss the opportunity to find their own "exclusive" island. And I don't want to be part of the overtourism.
This forced me to search and choose a different island with fewer to no crowds...and Andros was a perfect choice.
And now I'm going to spill all the tea here because, hey, maybe Andros is your next choice, too.
Must See + Do
Andros is the northernmost gem of the Cyclades archipelago.
Just a 2-hour ferry ride from Rafina port near Athens. That's why many Greeks made this island their vacation spot.
Mpatsi is THE place to be - it's the perfect "base" to explore the island. It's not windy at all, and you can enjoy the stunning beaches all day long. Oh, you'll also find many restaurants to choose from AND a vibrant nightlife.

This charming town also has a beautiful church on the top of the hill.
You would find us hanging out in Colona Beach Bar.
My husband kindly asked me not to share our favorite spot in Andros.
I refused 'cause I'm pretty sure you guys can keep a secret.
We REALLY liked the vibe of this beach because it's for everyone: couples, families, and solo travelers. The bar staff is friendly, the beer is cold, and the snacks are good. Arrive early; they only have a few spots.

This was the view while approaching our favorite spot.
We also booked a day tour (we didn’t have a car) to see the rest of the island, and it didn't disappoint.
We saw the island's majestic inland beauty, which is also visited in winter for the trekking trails; we visited Chora, the charming capital city, and Tourlitis Lighthouse (an iconic symbol of Andros).

It looks like a dream, right? And this was in August. +fewer to no crowds.
Ultimately, I suggest booking your accommodation and car rental well in advance, especially in August.
I booked the accommodation but followed my husband's advice to "find a car or scooter on the island." I'm sure you can guess what happened.
We didn't ultimately regret it, but if you want to see more of the island, just book it early.
Where to Eat
I'm simple: give me some true homemade Greek food, and I'm happy.
And that's exactly why these are my favorite restaurants in Mpatsi:
Cavo Meze is a family-run restaurant with simple, delicious, and generous portions. We liked it so much that we went back several times.
Φούρνος Τούντας (Tountas Bakery) is really popular, and as soon as we had our first bite, we found out why—their sweets and snacks are perfect for breakfast and light lunches. You can eat them on the spot or take them to the beach (which we end up doing every single morning).
A special mention goes to Aúra for genuine, fresh, mouthwatering gyros - a Greek classic!
P.S. Have questions about Andros? Feel free to reach out - I'm here to help make your trip unforgettable!
